When you feel like you’ve tried everything, or things aren’t going as you hoped, the consultants at Behaviour Detective can work with you to understand and support behaviour and well-being using learnings from neuropsychology. We specialise in building the capacity of staff teams in school and community disability support.
ABOUT US
We assist schools and disability organisations and staff teams to understand the factors contributing to the occurrence of behaviours of concern across the school and home environment. Using a human rights approach within a Positive Behaviour Support framework we incorporate learnings from the neurobiology of disability, trauma, and science of learning to promote the well-being of people with disability and their supporters.
Acheive their wellbeing and support goals with both short and long term benefits
We understand that every site is different, and is supporting students and clients with varied needs. We also know that everyone is here to try to support people with disability and from trauma in the best way they know how, and with true collaboration we can work towards goals that meet the needs of everyone.
Behaviour Detective consultants come from a range of backgrounds that include applied neuro-psychology, teachers, special educators, behaviour consultants, disability consultants, NDIS support co-ordinators, university lecturers, and researchers in psychology and behaviour.
At Behaviour Detective we acknowledge that behaviour support has a checkered history of unethical and harmful practices. As a neurodivergent-owned business we believe that promoting the rights of people with disability is our core business, and we constantly reflect and review to improve our practices in line with our ethos.
Using principles of adult learning, we support staff to build capacity in direct support; strategic planning; and data-informed behaviour support practice. We rely on current best practice and evidence and are constantly evolving as knowledge develops.
Our consultants will work with you to determine the best way to support you in reaching your goals, with flexible, adaptive, and responsive support options.
Schools and organisations can fund us directly (via IESP funding or professional development budgets) or in some cases we can be funded by NDIS plans, or with a mix of funding sources. We can also support in funding applications for schools and via NDIS reports.
